Punk-metal trio Tu Raan was formed in 2003 when Jorge the Bass Player and Cid Gage began jamming with guitars after years of making hip-hop together
Inspired by post-hardcore, punk, and trash-maetal influences, they immediately built a following in Columbus, Ohio’s talent-rich punk scene through their loud aggressive, live performances
In 2004, with drummer Dr. Fuzz, they recorded their first effort “The Mother Fuckin’ Single.” The single featured the title track, “Mother Fucker,” along with two others. The single was well received by fans, and it’s success emboldened the pair to record a full-length album a year and a half later with drummer Jonny Walker (Josh Odious)
“Business Giver” was an explosive, powerful full-length follow up to single, and included many fan favorites such as, “Welcome”, “Pump my Stomach,” and “Real Vision." Produced by Gage and studio work-horse Brain Simakis, the album allowed the band to evolve the sound they crafted on the single and add new tracks to their catalog, expanding their range.
In addition to the albums two covers; “Axel F” from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack, and Salt n' Pepa's “Push It”; the album includeds a track titled “The Real” a hip-hop track with a beat produced by Walker, and Cid providing one of his infectious hooks. Led by Jorge, each of the band’s three members provided a verse for the track. The hook also features background vocals by Emmitt D. Kauffer, who had provided drums for the album ‘A Chronic Di$$order’ alongside Gage and Walker, as groove-metal titans Odious, earlier that year
